This book is not an academic work based on theoretical knowledge. Rather, it is based on observations and experiences collected in more than 20 years of support work for women working in the sex industry by Amnesty for Women e.V. The aim of this book is to draw a realistic picture of the sex industry, especially from the perspective of Thai sex workers in Germany. With the help of interviews with sex workers as well as women, they document real stories as well as the living conditions of these women, both in their homeland and in Germany.

The book is also intended to serve as a guide for activists who want to help themselves in the challenging field of street social work and to help sex workers. In addition to safety tips for counselors, it provides useful behavioral hints for the performance of their work.
