European Network for HIV/STI Prevention and Health Promotion among Migrant Sex Workers

TAMPEP is an international research and social project that develops and
establishes new strategies and methods of AIDS and STD prevention
with and for migrant prostitutes in Europe.
It is organised as an intervention network and targets women, transvestites and transsexuals
working in the sex industry from more than 50 countries in Central
and Eastern Europe, South-East Asia, Africa and Latin America.
TAMPEP is being carried out by 26 organizations in 25 countries of the EU. The main coordinating centre of the project is in the Netherlands. www.tampep.eu
The project
Provides migrant sex workers with information material adapted to their
cultural background;
strengthens sex workers' self-respect and self-confidence;
offers migrant sex workers a point of reference by monitoring changes
in migration movements in the targeted countries;
investigates the social and legal framework surrounding sex work and the
working conditions of migrant sex workers, by carrying out streetwork
in the various areas of prostitution;
campaigns for migrant sex workers' rights at a local, national and international
level.
Teaches judges, lawyers, police, and health workers how to
